Staying active is one of the best things you can do for yourself no matter what your circumstances are, with the only real exception being when a medical professional tells you to be less active. Staying active and exercising helps with physical health and keeps you in shape. However, a lesser-known effect of being active is that it also helps your mental health. Consistent exercise helps the body and brain naturally release chemicals and stay in top condition.
Too much exercise can also be a bad thing, and it is important to balance your exercise time with the amount of time you spend having fun, relaxing, eating, sleeping, and working. Sometimes the best way to maintain a healthy balance with habits is by making a schedule. A few ideas for scheduling:
- Before you do anything, prioritize. Make sure you know what is most important to you and what things are most important to your overall health. Even if you believe work is the most important thing in your life, it is important to take into account the things you will need to balance out your work life.
Once you have priorities, schedule. You should attempt to maintain a healthy balance between work, sleep and play.
Make sure you allot time for relaxation. A lot of people forget this step or overlook it, but relaxing is essential in making yourself stress-free.
